How counting works here (so the numbers are authentic): Words = text split on whitespace. Characters with spaces = every character including spaces. Characters without spaces = spaces removed. Sentences = text split on . ! ? followed by a space or end. Paragraphs = blocks separated by a blank line. Reading time = words ÷ 200 words per minute (a widely used adult average — an estimate, not a Google rule). There is no Google word-count rule: the right length is whatever fully answers the reader’s question.

Most-used words

Common stopwords (the, and, to, of, a, in, etc.) are removed, so you see your real topic words. If one word dominates, check for repetition — not keyword stuffing, just readability.

How to use it

1. Paste your draft.
2. Check the counts against your brief — e.g. a 1,000-word guide, a 150-word meta-style intro, a 280-character post.
3. Look at average sentence length: long sentences (over 20 words on average) are harder to read. Break them up.
4. Check most-used words: if your topic word is missing, your draft may have drifted off-topic.

Frequently asked questions

How many words should a blog post be?
There is no Google minimum or ideal. A definition may need 300 words; a complete guide may need 2,000+. Cover the question fully, then stop.

Does word count affect SEO?
Not directly. Google ranks pages that satisfy the search, not pages that hit a word target. Thin, padded content hurts more than short, complete content helps.

Is my text saved?
No. This tool runs only in your browser.

Why is reading time an estimate?
People read at different speeds. 200 words per minute is a common adult average used for estimates, not a measurement of you.
